Doppeldeckerbus Now SOLD! Leyland Titan PD2 Open topped sightseeing bus

1957 Leyland `Titan` PD2. This bus started service in Lancaster and was later converted to open top for use on the Isle of Jersey. It has the very rare combination of traditional open rear platform entrance, classic cast aluminium radiator and pre-War body dimensions. Its narrow coachwork complied with Jersey`s width limit of 7`6" (2,29m) unlike mainstream buses at the time. It`s overall length of only 26` (7,81m) makes it the most compact British double decker design available. Height is also modest at 3,65m.

It has passed through our hands several times. We have used it ourselves on a pan-European promotional campaign for British Airways, along with seven other classic Leylands and some London taxis (see photo). It has operated tours on the Isles of Scilly where similar width restrictions to Jersey apply. It has 64 seats in maroon vinyl.

It has always proved a completely reliable bus in operation. The coachwork requires attention to the lower nearside framework. Once completed (within the sale price) the bus will carry a six months parts warranty and should see another half century of successful service in a new career.
